Make sure this functionality is right for your blog before moving forward! If you have posts that contain a lot of images that your readers might want to pin, I don’t recommend this method for you. If you’ve only got a handful of images in your posts and they’re generally not pin-worthy, you’re good to proceed.
If you include images in your blog posts that aren’t hidden, your readers may try to hover over those images and pin them instead of your hidden vertical image. If all your other images are “Pinterest-worthy,” this might not be a big deal to you. But, if those other images aren’t the best representation of your post’s content or your blog, you might want to discourage pinning them.
If you want to disable pinning of other images across your entire blog:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- In the lefthand menu, click “Easier Business Blogging” under Settings.
- In the Default settings section, find the “Autopin hidden images by default?” setting and flip the toggle switch to “Yes.”
- Save changes.
If you want to control pinning of other images on a per-post basis:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Open the edit page for the post you’d like to add the hidden image to.
- Below the post content, look for a metabox titled “Pinterest – Easier Business Blogging”.
- Next to the “Auto-pin hidden image:” label, you can use the toggle switch.
- Set to “on” to disable pinning of other images in your post. Only your hidden image will be pinnable when readers hover over other images.
- Set to “off” to enable pinning of other images in your post. Any image your readers hover over can be pinned.
- Save your post.
